The Chocolate Chip Cucumber can be found in the warm Atlantic; they are found in North Brazil, Ascension Island, North Carolina, the Caribbean and the Gulf of Guinea
Facts:
- When threatened, these animals can eject their internal organs and later regenerate them.
- The Chocolate Chip Cucumber feeds off of the ocean floor.
- They have both asexual and sexual reproduction.
- They are more active at night.
- The Chocolate Chip Cucumber is also called the Cookie Dough Sea Cucumber.
The Chocolate Chip Cucumber collects its food from the bottom of the ocean, sea cucumbers eat small particles. They digest the particles, make them smaller and recycle them back to the environment. They play an important part in the cleaning of the Ocean.
The Chocolate Chip Cucumber has a special reason for surviving. They differ from other Echinoderms in their way of breathing. Respiratory trees are often fed oxygen by the sea cucumber actually breathing through their anus.

Vocabulary:
- Asexual Reproduction: type of reproduction by which offspring arise from a single organism, and inherit the genes of that parent only; it does not involve the fusion of gametes and almost never changes the number of chromosomes.
- Sexual Reproduction: the production of new living organisms by combining genetic information from two individuals of different types (sexes). In most higher organisms, one sex (male) produces a small motile gamete that travels to fuse with a larger stationary gamete produced by the other (female).
- Radial Symmetry: symmetry around a central axis.
- Respiratory Trees: a branched respiratory organ in the body cavity of sea cucumbers.
- Ventral: being or located near or on the anterior or lower surface of an animal opposite the back.
